The African Milk Tree (Euphorbia trigona 'rubra') is a wonderful option for a low maintenance plant. It thrives on neglect. It handles extended droughts poorly. It should be watered once the soil is dry a few inches below the surface. However, it should not sit in wet soil, allowing it to do so will cause root rot.

This plant also needs lots of bright sunlight. The Milk Tree, originated from central Africa. This particular Milk Tree is known as Euphorbia trigona 'rubra and was selected for its unique red coloration.
